Another Kim 159 x 365

“Pop and popcorn! Pop and popcorn!” We’d scream as we jumped up and down. Visiting Kim and her brother Mark was always a treat. Things changed the year Kim advanced an extra year in school, and Mark and I were retained. We’d switched "ages" and with that, childhood pecking order.

Yes I much prefer..allowed to explore the grade again. Of course that's six words instead of one.

Well, retained is better than "flunked" which is what the kids said happened to me.

It used to be my most terrible secret, but after a while I knew Miss Meyer did me a great service by keeping me back a year. Had she not, I think I may have dropped out of school at some point and most likely not gone to college.
