Miss Meyer scared even the parents, but I liked her. Maybe she saw that I was vulnerable, maybe she just liked me. When she decided I needed to repeat third grade, I asked to be in her class again. Genuinely surprised, but pleased said, "most don't want me one year."

This is a great story. And some of the greatest teachers are the ones that students either love or hate.

George, Tim ’s friend from Columbia, Maryland , must have often worn clothes that matched because I called him color-coordinated. He replied: everyone who lived in that planned community was color-coordinated – it was a rule. I now live about thirty minutes from Columbia and, still think of it as Color Coordinated Columbia.
