“Does the Pope know? What does the Rabbi think?” She joked after we wrote our names on her mailing list. Because my last name sounds Catholic and my then live-in boyfriend looks somewhat Jewish, we understood. We laughed with her, not wanting to spoil the friendly levity. We were Methodist.

Heh, it was a calendar of dinner specials. I think that because she was Jewish and her husband was Catholic and they joked about it a lot, she assumed we were the same. This was also our favorite restaurant in Alexandria - it had a great little back room with toys for the kids to play with, so we could eat our dinners without having to deal with the kiddos for a few minutes.

George, Tim ’s friend from Columbia, Maryland , must have often worn clothes that matched because I called him color-coordinated. He replied: everyone who lived in that planned community was color-coordinated – it was a rule. I now live about thirty minutes from Columbia and, still think of it as Color Coordinated Columbia.
