Rabbit man 25 x 365

“Want a sheet o’Rabbits?” I thought I heard the farmer say as he wrapped a skinned, gutted rabbit in white paper.
“No,” I whispered
“Come on, let's go see the rabbits,” persuaded my aunt, taking the package - our dinner.
“Okay.”
They showed me the caged bunnies destined for someone’s table.

She was buying it for her mom, my grandma and I refused to eat the rabbit so they made me something else, long forgotten, but I know I didn't eat rabbit.

Dem rabbits good eatin. But bunnies in cages are pets...I had a student once with a pet goat. I won't go any further into that story.

My (twin) brothers-in-law, Danny and Dennis have been farming just outside Elgin, Illinois all their adult life. Before that their father farmed some of the same land . In less than two years most of the land they farm will become a subdivision for the rich. Their landlords are selling out.
