I had a crush on Gary ever since I saw him at the pinewood derby. He knew it too. My friend Pam volunteered to keep an eye on him during study hall but they ended up going steady. He eventually asked me out but he skated with everyone but me.

I used to frequent a roller skating rink in Elgin. Same one, perhaps?

Probably - I think this one might have been in South Elgin though. (I only know of one in the area)

Via circuitous route I found out the name of the Rink: Fox Valley Roller Rink - which I'm pretty sure was in South Elgin. (I did a Google search on '"Fox Valley Roller Rink" elgin' and one of the more promising links was to an entry in my very own "snapshots of my life" blog describing that year.

In the late 70's there was a Roller Disco place on Route 31 heading towards Dundee.
